Ohio’s annual Sales Tax Holiday began today, as announced by State Representative Bill Roemer (R-Richfield). The tax holiday will continue through August 14. During this period, most tangible personal property priced at $500 or less is exempt from sales tax in the state.
The exemption applies to a wide range of items, including electronics such as computers and televisions, all types of clothing, books including textbooks and novels, home goods like furniture and kitchenware, plants for indoor and outdoor use, sporting goods and apparel, as well as food and beverages such as dine-in meals, dietary supplements, and soft drinks.
“This two-week holiday is designed to serve families as they prepare to head back-to-school,” said Roemer. “Make sure to shop local and save big!”
