State Rep. Bill Roemer | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representatives Bill Roemer and Heidi Workman have announced that House Bill 14 has successfully passed through the Ohio Senate without opposition. The bill is now on its way to Governor Mike DeWine for approval.
The purpose of the legislation is to align Ohio's tax laws with federal tax regulations by integrating changes from the Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2023 into state law. This move aims to streamline tax procedures for Ohio residents.
Representative Roemer expressed his satisfaction, stating, "I appreciate the Senate’s swift action to get this common sense legislation that supports Ohio taxpayers across the finish line." His colleague, Representative Workman, added, “This important measure will directly improve the tax filing process in our state, and I am grateful to see it move one step closer to becoming Ohio law.”
A significant aspect of this bill is its provision ensuring that settlements received from the East Palestine train derailment incident remain untaxed.
