State Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) has announced the allocation of millions of dollars from the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund (OTSCIF) to support various projects aimed at benefiting local communities and residents in Senate District 27.

"Our state must make smart investments into our communities while being good stewards of Ohioans' hard-earned tax dollars," said Roegner. "These transformational projects will benefit the residents of Summit County for generations to come."

Among the funded projects are:

- **New Franklin Sewer Project - $3,800,000**: This initiative aims to impact 14,000 residents by bringing sanitary sewer services and economic development activity to the area. Mayor Paul Adamson expressed gratitude, stating, “The expansion of sewer to our S.R. 93 commercial corridor is a game-changer for our City.”

- **Cuyahoga Falls Regional Fire Training Complex - $1,500,000**: This funding will aid in constructing a regional training facility for fire departments throughout Summit County and nearby areas. Mayor Don Walters commented, "There is nothing more important than public safety."

- **Stow First Responders Memorial - $95,863**: The funds will help build a monument honoring first responders who have served or lost their lives in duty. Chief of Police Jeff Film noted that without Senator Roegner's dedication, this project might not have been completed.

- **Akron-Canton Airport West Side Development - $3,200,000**: This project will expand ramp space by 150,000 square feet to address capacity limitations and develop more hangar space. Ren Camacho, President and CEO of Akron-Canton Airport, highlighted the benefits including increased business and job creation.

- **Village of Boston Heights Safety Center - $836,831**: The funding supports renovating the current fire station and constructing an addition to combine safety services under one roof. Mayor Ron Antal emphasized its importance for emergency response and coordination efforts.

- **Macedonia Service Center - $500,000**: This project aims to consolidate city services within one building for improved efficiency. Mayor Nick Molnar thanked Senator Roegner for securing funding.

- **Middle School Skilled Trades Center - $750,000**: This center seeks to expose over 60,000 students to careers in skilled trades such as plumbing and electrical work. Patrick Scherer from Great Trail Council BSA praised the project's potential impact on young people’s career choices.

The OTSCIF was established under House Bill 33 passed by the Ohio General Assembly in June 2023. It set aside $700 million as an additional funding source for community projects outside the state's traditional Capital Budget cycle.

The Senate Finance Committee will begin hearings on bills addressing OTSCIF funding immediately.
