Governmental Aggregation | City of Trotwood
With the increased costs associated with delivering energy supply to businesses and consumers, the City of Trotwood has joined forces with other Miami Valley Communications Council communities in a joint electric and natural gas aggregation program. The act of aggregating energy and natural gas supply should present Trotwood residents and small-business owners with significant savings on their monthly utility bills.
Aggregation is an option other than the standard utilities generation costs – a way to collectively as a community (in our case, multiple communities) receive competitive pricing compared to the utility. The city of Trotwood, along with participating MVCC communities, will select an aggregator who will negotiate to purchase electricity and natural gas on behalf of the participating communities.
For residents who are not on PIP or a purchasing agreement, no action is required to join the program; They will automatically be enrolled once aggregation begins. However, residents or small businesses that do not want to participate in monthly savings, can opt-out at any time by submitting an opt-out form. There is no cost or penalty to leave early; and contracts last 2 – 3 years in length.
We do not yet know what the aggregated price for electric and natural gas will be. We expect to learn more information in the first quarter of the year. Residents that have questions regarding aggregation can contact Amy Hoffman, of Palmer Energy, at 419-539-9180 ext. 106.
