Summit County Sheriff's Office Scam Alert | Summit County Sheriff's Office

Well, it's happening again. Residents of Summit County and even beyond are receiving calls from scammers claiming to be actual deputies from our Office. Call recipients are being told that they have outstanding tickets or warrants that need to be paid or else they risk arrest. In previous instances of this scam, recipients were told that they failed to respond to jury duty, or that a family member had been arrested and needed bailed out. In all these situations, the scammers ask for payment over the phone, or through a pre-paid credit card.

To be clear, the Sheriff's Office does NOT ask for or accept payment for anything via telephone or pre-paid cards. If you have received such a call and want to verify its legitimacy, you can contact our Dispatch at (330) 643-2181.
