Summit County Sheriff's Office staff spent a very productive afternoon with the students and faculty at The University of Akron

086e

SCSO staff spent a very productive afternoon with the students and faculty at The University of Akron last Friday. We first participated in a roundtable with other local law enforcement and elected leaders discussing ways to strengthen our relationship with the University, particularly in regards to its robust Criminal Justice program and the University of Akron/Summit County Sheriff's Police Academy. We were then treated to a great presentation from a couple of very impressive Criminal Justice undergrads on ways to reduce jail recidivism among those with mental illness and addiction issues. And finally, Dr. Insun Park, Sheriff Fatheree (currently away at the FBI Academy), Major Kaalima, and Police Academy Commander Holland received an award from the EX[L] Center for their partnership in establishing the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program between the SCSO and UA.
