Akron Police Department issued the following announcement on March 17.
Erika Wiles is a Crime Analyst III for the Akron Police Department. She’s been with APD for 13 years, after working for departments in California and Florida. As a crime analyst, she references many different databases and resources to help identify, forecast and ultimately prevent and deter crime. By providing tactical, strategic and administrative products, reports and maps, her primary goal is to support our department every day as best as possible and look for new innovative ways to reduce crime and increase safety city-wide.
What brought her into this line of work? Her own personality.
“I over-analyze everything in life, and I’m fascinated by the unpredictability of human behavior,” Erika says.
She is thankful to be doing what she loves and working in law enforcement.
“I just think every time you’re a part of something that’s for the greater good, that’s a memorable experience,” she says.
She appreciates the collaboration of the different expertise on her team.
“There are three of us analysts, an officer, and a Sergeant who oversees us,” she explains, “He brought knowledge from patrol and great technical skills which has been such a vital component for us as a unit.”
