Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro issued the following announcement on March 6.
I am both honored and humbled to receive the Bernard Rosen Community Service Award. Bernard was a man of great integrity and I am beyond grateful to be associated with his legacy.
Long before I ran for public office I volunteered at the Rape Crisis Center and saw firsthand the effects of trauma and tragedy on members of our community. Organizations like Victim Assistance ensure people are never left alone, but provided the compassion and support needed to chart a course for better days.
I extend my thanks to those at the Victim Assistance Program for their 75 years of service in Summit County. Together we are building a strong, compassionate community.
