State Representative Bill Roemer of Richfield recently honored the Norton Band with a resolution to mark its 100th anniversary. The band, which has been a staple in the Norton community since 1924, has seen hundreds of musicians perform at various events including sporting events, concerts, and parades.

Roemer expressed his admiration for the band's long-standing tradition of excellence. "The Norton Band program has challenged generations of hard-working students to perform at high levels with pride, class, and dignity," he said. He acknowledged the efforts of students, directors, parents, and others who have contributed to the band's ongoing success.

Jamey Boezi, Director of Norton Bands, accepted the award on behalf of both past and present band members. "It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of the band members—past and present—who have served as musical ambassadors for the Norton community," Boezi stated. He highlighted how this recognition underscores a century's worth of commitment and unity within the community.

The Norton Instrumental Music program began as a twelve-member orchestra in 1924-1925. Over time it has grown significantly in terms of membership and achievements while fostering school pride.
