State Representative Bill Roemer and State Senator Kristina Roegner have announced that the Village of Boston Heights has been awarded $885,000 for the demolition of the Norwood Inn. This funding is part of the Ohio Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, designed by the Ohio General Assembly and Governor Mike DeWine to create economic opportunities in areas hindered by contamination or abandoned structures.
Roemer stated, “While once a vibrant hotel, the Norwood Inn has become a blight on the Village of Boston Heights and other Northern Summit County Communities.” He emphasized that demolishing the inn will prepare the area for new businesses.
Mayor Ron Antal of Boston Heights remarked on the village's progress: “As the gateway to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Village of Boston Heights is taking significant steps toward modernization and economic growth. The removal of this large, dilapidated hotel paves the way for new amenities and future development.” He also acknowledged the collaboration between local officials and organizations in achieving this milestone.
Since its inception, more than $233 million in grants from this program have supported over 5,000 demolition projects across Ohio counties, demonstrating its impact statewide.
