The University of Akron Zips Turn in Impressive Fall Semester in the Classroom | The University of Akron

Student-athletes at the University of Akron combined to achieve a department-wide grade point average of 3.025 in the fall 2022 semester.
 
Collectively, Akron student-athletes own a cumulative departmental GPA of 3.204, with 62 percent of Zips maintaining an individual cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better at Akron.
 
The Zips registered 46 Academic All-Mid-American Conference selections across its five MAC-sponsored teams for the 2022 fall campaign.
 
For the fall semester of 2022, 10 of 15 Akron athletics teams achieved a semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher, led by volleyball earning a program-best 3.530 team GPA for the semester. Additionally, swimming and diving, women's basketball, golf, rifle, women's soccer, women's track and field, lacrosse, men's track and field and baseball each surpassed the 3.00 team GPA threshold registering marks of 3.506, 3.502, 3.501, 3.321, 3.307, 3.222, 3.184, 3.153 and 3.020 respectively.
 
The excellence of the Zips in their academic studies was on display as nearly 63 percent of Akron's student-athletes, 255 of 407, earned an individual GPA for the term of 3.0 or better, while more than 37 percent garnered a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
 
Twenty-four of the Zips' student-athletes garnered a perfect 4.0 GPA for the fall semester, including five from women's track and field. Baseball followed with four, to go along with three from football and men's soccer, two apiece from volleyball and women's soccer, and one each from golf, lacrosse, men's track and field, rifle and swimming and diving.
 
Additionally, 127 Akron student-athletes posted a GPA between 3.5-3.99 for the fall semester, and 104 followed with individual GPAs in the 3.0-3.49 range.
 
Football paced the combined list with 42 Zips earning between a 3.0-3.99 for the fall semester. They were followed by women's track and field (24), swimming and diving (23), lacrosse (22), baseball (18), women's soccer (16), men's track and field (15), softball (15), men's soccer (13), volleyball (13), women's basketball (11), rifle (8), men's basketball (7) and golf (4).
 
Twenty-seven Zips earned their degrees from the University of Akron following the fall 2022 semester.
