Senior Jacinta Pikunas completed the 2022 Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic third overall with an even-par tournament total, leading the women's golf team to a fourth-place finish 301-291-300 - 892 (+28) at the Players Club on Tuesday.
Pikunas was selected to the all-tournament team with rounds of 72 (E), 71 (-1) and 73 (+1) for an even 54-hole slate with 216 strokes. During the final round, Pikunas added seven par scores and five birdies to her tournament total, finishing with 18 pars, nine birdies, eight bogeys and a double bogey. She entered the final 18-hole round tied for fourth overall at the par 72, 6,139-yard course.
The Zips remained fourth in the team scoring as junior Jessica Hahn followed with a Top 25 finish. Hahn also carded a 73 (+1) final round to finish 24th overall with a 75-78-73 – 226 (+10) tally. Daphne Van Son added a 228 (+12) score to the Zips' tournament total, while Avery Wright and Hridhika Vora rounded out the scoring with 232 (+16) and 239 (+23) totals, respectively.
Loyola claimed the team title with a 299-287-293 - 879 (+15) ledger, while Ball State's Kiah Parrott earned medalist honors with a 9-under par 207-stroke effort. She recorded rounds of 67 (-5), 68 (-4) and 72 (E) for the win.Akron is scheduled to be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4 at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich. for the Shirley Spork EMU Invite hosted by Eastern Michigan.
